Arlyn Knapic is a prominent violinist and violist on the Monterey Peninsula and in Santa Cruz County. She is the violist for the Monterey String Quartet and has performed throughout California as an orchestral member and chamber musician, performing locally with groups such as Ensemble Monterey, Santa Cruz Chamber Players, I Cantori di Carmel and The Western Stage. 
Arlyn began playing violin at the age of five, after attending a Monterey Symphony concert with her mother.  She received a BA in English with a minor in Music from UC Santa Barbara, studying with Ronald Copes of the Juilliard String Quartet. After working in Los Angeles in the magazine publishing industry, she decided to return to school, earning an MA in Violin Performance from San Jose State University, studying with Cecily Ward and Diane Nicholeris. Passionate about teaching, Arlyn has attended workshops throughout the United States on the Suzuki and Dalcroze Method. Arlyn has been teaching privately for over 15 years, is the Instrumental Strings Instructor at Monterey Bay Charter School, and also teaches with Orchestra in the Schools. She is currently working on a Master of Education in Elementary Education and a multiple subject teaching credential.
